In February, we were able to recruit a student for a one-week internship. Timor is 14 years old and currently attends the 9th grade at Markgräfin-Wilhelmine-Gymnasium in Bayreuth. For his company internship, he decided to pursue an internship in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Programming.
At the beginning of the internship, we familiarized him with our virtual work platform and introduced him to the team he would be working with in the upcoming week.
For the week, we assigned Timor the task of programming Conway's Game of Life in the Python programming language and building it as a web application throughout the week.
On Tuesday, Thomas Lachner, one of our employees, onboarded Timor into our office. They worked together on an AI demonstrator, and Timor got to learn about the various applications of AI. They conducted different data analyses and tried to fix any emerging errors. The day concluded with a celebratory pizza dinner and a NeuroForge hoodie.
"I hope that besides troubleshooting, I was able to teach the enthusiastic Timor a bit about the mathematical functioning of AI. Conversely, I also learned something new from Timor and had a lot of fun." - Thomas Lachner
By midweek, Timor had already finished programming the game. Therefore, we introduced him to a software development concept called GitHub at NeuroForge. GitHub is an "open-source" platform where different programs can be uploaded and accessed by users from all over the world.
He published his game as a web application and conducted initial small data analyses. On Friday, he presented his results to the entire team - no secret, Timor will strengthen our team in the future!
